Wānaka (In Progress)

Overlooking Lake Wānaka, this proposed landscape is designed to soften the new house into its wider setting. Positioned high above the lake, the site is exposed to strong winds and harsh weather, and the planting strategy responds with a palette of robust, locally appropriate native species.

In contrast, the walled courtyard garden is more contained and sheltered, allowing for a richer and more decorative planting approach. Conceived as a moment of surprise, this space is only revealed once inside the house.
