PHILOSOPHY

I aim to give every design a unique identity and sense of place through understanding the site and how the client wishes to use it.

Gaining an appreciation of the site depends largely on its location.

For example, an urban town environment will likely be shaped by using the surrounding architecture as a reference point and guide. If the site is open or remote then the natural elements are the main considerations.

Local geography, plant life, and climate all play a part in development of the character of a site. The history of a space is also very important, as these historical layers help develop an understanding of how the landscape has and is to be used.

Taking all these elements into consideration allows me to create a space which is sympathetic to the natural surroundings, one which does not shout, but announces itself quietly within the greater landscape.

Above all else the design must be apt.
