Barochan House, Remuera
With a design proposed in March 2017, and after a challenging and at times complex build, we completed the project with final planting towards the end of 2022.
Apart from the boundary walls, everything else outside of the house footprint is new. A significant amount of time and thought went into creating a landscape which is appropriate to the architecture as well as its location at the foot of Ōhinerau, Mt Hobson.
The result is a garden that feels a bit more European than New Zealand in its form – largely a response to the Arts & Crafts style of the house – but finished with materials closer to home. Some of the detailing relied heavily on Jared’s formative landscape years in England. A considerable undertaking made possible by an excellent builder and an impassioned client.
